Why We Don't Edit Out the "Ums" and "Ahs"

By Kenzie Anne

If you've listened to the show, you've probably noticed we don't heavily edit our episodes. The pauses, the "ums," the moments where we search for the right word—they're all there.

This is an intentional choice. In an age of perfectly polished content, we wanted to create something that feels real and unscripted. Because that's what conversations actually sound like.

Those imperfect moments are where the humanity lives. They're the spaces where we're thinking, processing, and being genuine. Editing them out would make the show sound more professional, but it would also make it less authentic.

We want you to feel like you're sitting in the room with us, not listening to a perfectly produced performance. We want you to hear the laughter, the sighs, the moments of genuine surprise and discovery.

Perfection is boring. Give us the messy, real, unfiltered conversations any day.
